Gas Leak Detector

Zhongli Weiye supplies valve proving systems for burner gas trains, matched to the gas type, pressure range and program controller of your installation.

What a gas leak detector does on a burner

A gas leak detector on a burner installation is usually a valve proving system rather than a room air monitor: it checks that the safety shut-off valves on the gas train are actually holding before the burner is allowed to start, by pressurising the section between them and watching for a pressure rise that would indicate a leaking seat.

Because it proves the valves and not the air in the room, it will trip on a valve that weeps only slightly — which is often the earliest sign that a solenoid valve seat is worn rather than evidence that the detector is faulty. Room-mounted gas detectors are a different device entirely and are not a substitute.

  • Typical symptom: the burner proves but will not start, or passes one day and trips the next — often a weeping valve seat rather than a failed detector.
  • Check before ordering: gas type, pressure range of the gas train, supply voltage, and the signal your program controller expects.
  • Tell us the detector model and the burner it protects if you are replacing one.

Leak Det. FAQs

Do I need a valve proving system or a room gas detector?

They do different jobs. A valve proving system checks the gas train's shut-off valves before every start; a room detector monitors the air in the plant room for escaping gas. Many installations need both — your local gas code decides. We supply the valve proving side and match it to your controller.
