How to choose the right industrial burner

Selection starts from the boiler or furnace you are firing, not from a catalogue. Establish the duty first: the medium — steam, hot water, thermal oil or hot air — the output range and turndown the process needs, and the combustion chamber dimensions or drawing. Output says whether a model can reach the duty; the chamber backpressure curve says whether it can do so against your equipment's resistance, and that is where most selections fail.

Then match the fuel and the emissions limit. Gas, light oil or dual fuel is set by your supply and pricing; where a permit sets the NOx limit, emission class decides the model before output does. Finally confirm the physical fit — flame size inside the chamber and the burner depth available — and the fuel train, gas pressure and electrical supply the installation needs.

• Send the boiler nameplate, chamber dimensions and the fuel pressure available; we return a model — or tell you it will not match.
• For low-NOx duties, give us the standard and limit that apply at your site so we check the model before quoting.
• A dual fuel burner only helps if the gas train, oil pump set and control system are specified together with the burner.
