Case Study · Commercial Heating

Hot-Water Boiler Burner for a Hospital

A hospital's 2.8 MW heating boiler had to hold 90C supply through varying load with no flameout risk. A Riello RLS250 modulating burner with a certified train delivered stable comfort heating and lower gas use.

Commercial building — hospital heating, hot water 2.8 MW, 90C hot-water loop

The challenge

01

Heating load swung with weather and occupancy, so supply temperature drifted.

02

Any flameout in winter risked freezing the building's heating loop.

03

The plant wanted lower gas cost without a full boiler replacement.

04

Combustion had to be clean for the urban site's air permit.

What we supplied & did

01

Fitted a Riello RLS250 modulating gas burner matched to the 2.8 MW loop.

02

Installed a Dungs safety valve train with leak test and dual shut-off.

03

Used a Siemens program controller covering ignition, flame proving and interlock.

04

Tuned the air/fuel curve on site and applied low-NOx adaptation.

Measured results

What changed on the line

Supply: 90C, stable Ignition: Reliable, no flameout Gas saving: ≈ 9% NOx: Compliant

Supply temperature stays at 90C through load swings, protecting the loop in winter.

Reliable ignition removed flameout risk during peak heating demand.

Optimised combustion saved about 9% gas versus the old burner.

Emissions stayed within the urban air permit.
